Obituary

Mary Ellen Gase, 68, died September 1st at Iowa Methodist Hospital after a long term battle with cancer. Funeral services are at 11 a.m. Friday, September 5th at St. Theresa's Catholic Church.

Mary Ellen Gase was born February 22, 1940 in Iowa City, Iowa, the daughter of Leo and Veva Jenn. She graduated from St. Mary's High School in Riverside, Iowa. She married Francis Gase in Hills, Iowa on September 16, 1961.

She is survived by her husband, Francis; three children, Rich (Karen) Gase, Betty (Mike Youngblood) Canney, Sue (Doug) Burger; six grandchildren Miles and Ryan Gase, Nicholas Canney, Derek, Abigail, and Genevieve Burger. She is also survived by her mother Veva Jenn and seven siblings; Roberta Jenn, Robert Jenn, James Jenn, Larry (Terri) Jenn, Ronald (Ellen) Jenn, Dennis (Peggy) Jenn, Lori (Kevin) Yoder and many nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her father Leo Jenn and two infant sisters; Mary and Luella.

Mary Ellen was employed by Dr. Vincent Mancuso and Dr. Joseph Barsetti Pediatric Denistry for nearly twenty years. She retired in 2003 and will be dearly missed by all her friends and family.

Visitation will be at Westover on Thursday, September 4th from 4 to 7 pm with a 7 pm Rosary Service.

Special thanks to Dr. Robert Shreck and his two nurses Tammy and Jane. Additional thanks to all the nurses and hospital staff at Iowa Methodist Powell Three.
