Mary Lou Johnson, 86, died May 28, 2012 at her home in Ankeny. Funeral services will be 10:00 am, Friday, June 1, 2012 at Altoona United Methodist Church. Burial will follow at Oralabor Cemetery in Ankeny.

Mary Lou was born September 1, 1925 in Panora, Iowa to John Pattee and Clara Edith (Crouse) Fidler. She was a graduate of Adel High School and on October 8, 1944 she married Harold Wayne Johnson.

Mary Lou has been a resident of Ankeny for 53 years and her memberships include Altoona United Methodist Church, Carney Club, and Tornado Twirlers and Do-Si Dancers Square Dance Clubs. Mary Lou was a Sears employee for over 20 years.

Her life interest was family and church – always thinking of others – thinking last of herself. Stories shared by family include: what a great cook she was, how she helped as a 4-H leader, and the time and planning as director of Vacation Bible School.

Survivors include her husband Harold; children: Aletha (Bob) Speakar of Clear Lake, IA, Lorene (Lyle) Johnson of Cheyenne, WY, Wayne (Helen) Johnson of Nevada, IA, Warren (Belinda) Johnson of Omaha, NE; grandchildren: Michael Eggers II (Shelly) of Clear Lake, IA; Tom Pedretti (Melissa) of Riverside, CA; Tony Johnson (Julie) Oskaloosa, IA; Matt Johnson (Valerie) Cheyenne, WY; Michelle Laintz, Cheyenne, WY; Wade Johnson Bremerton, WA; Mikala Lunning (Jeremy) Nevada, IA; Johnathan Hurwitz, Huntsville, AL; great grandchildren: Nicholas, Luke and Alec Eggers; Alexis Vance; A. J., Kaylee, and Kassie Johnson; Caleb and Colton Johnson; Samuel and Elijah Hurwitz; and one sister.

The family will receive friends from 5-7:00 pm, at Altoona United Methodist Church, Thursday, May 31, 2012. Memorial contributions may be given to the family for a memorial fund to be established in Mary Lou's name. On line condolences may be made at
