Mary Siglin Davisson, 98, passed away peacefully on Saturday, September 4, 2010 at Rowley Masonic Home in Perry, Iowa. Funeral services will be held at 10:30 a.m. on Wednesday, September 8, at United Methodist Church in Woodward. Burial will take place at Woodward Cemetery, in Woodward.

Mary was born on August 13, 1912 to Jacob M. and Florence Bush Siglin. She lived her entire life in Boone and Dallas Counties of Iowa. She made her home in Woodward for 92 years after which she moved to Spring Valley Assisted Living in Perry where she lived for five years. While living at Spring Valley, Mary made many new friends and a new "best friend", Ava Mae Francis.

Mary was a lifelong member of the United Methodist Church in Woodward where she worshiped and worked many years helping friends and neighbors. She loved growing and enjoying flowers, watching and listening to birds, and Iowa sunsets. Mary was an avid card and cribbage player and golfed up until she was 90 years old. She also enjoyed traveling with family and friends. Mary was devoted to her husband and entire family including her children, grandchildren, parents, brothers and sisters.

Mary loved life and had a wonderful sense of humor. She always had a positive outlook on life and when life was hard she had an ability to make the best of any situation. She was a fierce competitor and loved winning. She enjoyed cheering on her Chicago Cubs and college basketball teams.

She is survived by her six children: Lynn (Janet) Davisson of Urbandale, Jerry (Delores) Davisson of Adel, Karen (Harlan) Christensen of Des Moines, Susan (Floyd) Moore of Woodward, Sally Taylor of West Des Moines and Kathy (Mike) Heatherton of Clive; 15 grandchildren; 26 great-grandchildren; six great-great-grandchildren; her sister, Alice Jane Roberts of Valparaiso, IN; and a host of many nieces, nephews and friends. Mary was preceded in death by her husband of 49 years, Harold; one grandchild; two great-grandchildren; five brothers; two sisters; and many friends.

The family would like to express their gratitude to the health care community for their loving care these past few years. Mary will be deeply missed by all those who knew and loved her.

The family will greet friends from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. on Tuesday, September 7, at the church, where a Prayer service will begin at 7:30 p.m.
