Mary Eastman Obituary

Mary Eastman passed away peacefully surrounded by family on September 23, 2025. Up until the end she maintained her selfless love for her family and friends.

Mary's life was an example of a servant's heart. She demonstrated a spirit of giving and contribution throughout her 81 active years. Her passion was in providing items for local food banks and volunteering at the library.

Mary spent her early years in her place of birth in Vivian, Louisiana. She met and married the love of her life Robert Eastman in Lake Charles, Louisiana while she was attending McNeese College and he was serving in the Air Force.

Following years of relocating due to military life, Mary and Robert made their home in Iowa where they raised 5 children. While raising her family was her greatest labor of love, Mary also found fulfillment working as a crew leader for the US Census.

Mary was preceded in death by her husband Robert Eastman, daughter Linda Choate, and son Billy Eastman. She will be missed and honored by her children: Karen Schiernbeck (Vernon), Judy Knoblock (John), Jayne Kloster (Christian), Michael Eastman; son-in-law Mark Choate; and beloved grandchildren: Amanda Osborn (Josh), Robert Schiernbeck, Jonah Kloster, Jacob Kloster, Katie Choate, and great grandchildren Josh Osborn Jr., Jack Osborn, and Ashlynn Schiernbeck.

Visitation will be 9:30-10:30 a.m., Saturday, September 27 at Iles Grandview Park Chapel. Her funeral will begin at 10:30 a.m. followed by burial at Highland Memory Gardens.
