Maureen Wilson Obituary

Maureen Dorman Wilson was born on May 6, 1929, to Donald and Vera Reynolds Dorman in Manchester, Iowa. She passed away July 7, 2024. She attended schools in Manchester and Del Rio, Texas and graduated from Manchester High School in 1947. Maureen married David Harry Wilson when he returned from duty with the United States Marine Corps in Japan. They lived in Iowa and Maryland and were married for 68 years.

Genealogy was Maureen’s passion, tracing her family from Europe to America including arrival of the Pilgrims in 1620 to today. She was active in Westminster Presbyterian Church in Des Moines. Her other activities included attending the First Iowa Girls State, Eastern Star, Iowa Society of Mayflower descendants, Women Descendants of the Ancient and Honorable Artillery, American Legion Auxiliary, and PEO.

Maureen and David enjoyed travel and had visited 48 states together and had traveled overseas 17 times. She was predeceased by her husband David and her brother George Colin Dorman of Anamosa, Iowa.

Maureen is survived by sons Jerry (Caryl) of Creve Coeur, Missouri, Scott (Jeanni) of Des Moines, Iowa, and daughter Nancy (Bob) Kranovich of West Des Moines, Iowa, grandchildren Lindsey (Dustin) Bitikofer of Dittmer, Missouri, Andrew Wilson of Seattle, Washington, Brandon (Bobby) Kranovich, and Danielle (Patrick Fisher) Kranovich of West Des Moines, Iowa, and one great-grandchild, Luke Bitikofer of Dittmer, Missouri.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be directed to the Iowa Society of Mayflower Descendants.

There will be a visitation July 19, 2024, from 10am to Noon at Iles Westover Chapel, 6337 Hickman Road, Des Moines. On July 20, 2024, there will be a graveside service and burial in Oakland Cemetery at 11:00am, Manchester, Iowa.
