Maurice Brandenburger passed away July 4 at Mercy Hospital in Des Moines. He was 92.

Visitation for family and friends will be Sunday, July 6, 6:00-8:00pm, at Dunn's Funeral Home, 2121 Grand Avenue. A Memorial Service will be held Monday, July 7, 11:00am at Plymouth United Church of Christ, 4126 Ingersoll Avenue.

A 35-year resident of Urbandale, Maurice was born November 14, 1915, in Freeburg, Illinois and grew up in Bellville, Illinois. He served with the 8th Army Air Force in Tibenham, England during World War II. Following the war, he began a 40+-year career with Agrico Chemical and Continental Oil as an accountant, which took him to Lima and Cleveland, Ohio, Clinton, Iowa, Peoria, Illinois, and finally to Des Moines.

Maurice and his beloved wife Marian were active members of Plymouth United Church of Christ in Des Moines. Maurice joined the church's Chancel Choir, where he sang bass, and performed regularly with the choir at Sunday services. Two of his most memorable choral experiences were performing on tour in Australia and singing at Carnegie Hall in New York City.

An avid reader, Maurice was a regular patron and enthusiastic supporter of the Urbandale Library. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to the library or to Plymouth United Church of Christ.

Maurice is survived by his son, Allen, of Atlanta, and will be sorely missed by his many friends.
