Obituary

Max D. Polson, 73, passed away Wednesday morning due to complications of Parkinson�s Disease. A memorial service will be held 10 AM, Saturday, December 9, 2006 at Meredith Drive Reformed Church. A private burial will take place at a later date.

Max was born August 25, 1933 to Lela and Forest Polson in Prescott, Iowa. He graduated from Prescott High School in 1950 and enlisted in the U.S. Navy in 1952. He served as a radioman during the Korean War at Whidbey Island Naval Station and aboard the USS Coiner. He was honorably discharged in 1956 and went on to graduate from the University of Omaha in 1960. Shortly there after he started at Principal Financial Group (formerly Bankers Life Company) in Des Moines. Max�s friends and family always enjoyed his sense of humor and his numerous practical jokes at work. Following a 34 year career at Principal he retired in 1994. In his retirement Max enjoyed his Tuesday and Thursday golf groups, Ham radio, card games at the Legion Hall, sports, especially Iowa Hawkeye games and fishing in Canada with his wife and friends. He was a member of the American Legion Post 663 and attended Meredith Drive Reformed Church.

Max is survived by his loving wife, Mary; his children, Mike Polson of Clive, Dave (Heidi) Polson of Minburn, Kathy Flattery of Urbandale and Deb (Jim) Grimes of Des Moines; ten grandchildren; a great grandchild; a brother and three sisters. He was preceded in death by his parents and a brother.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made in Max�s name to the Iowa Chapter American Parkinson�s Disease Association, PO Box 507, Waukee, Iowa 50263.
