Maxine L. Loose, 86, passed away Sunday, January 2, 2005 at Mercy Medical Center in Des Moines. Funeral services will be held at 10 a.m. Friday, January 7, 2005 at the St. Peter Lutheran Church in Grimes, with burial at Chapel Hill Gardens Cemetery in Des Moines.

Maxine was born March 11, 1918 near Waukee, the daughter of Harry and Lena Forret. When Maxine was five the family moved to Grimes where she was raised. Maxine was a graduate of AIB and had worked at St. Paul Fire & Marine and also at Pioneer International.

Maxine had lived in Redfield before moving to Waukee in 1991. She was a member of North Walnut Circle, Daughters of Ceres, Peace Lutheran Church in Adel and St. Peter Lutheran Church in Grimes. She had been a 4-H Leader for many years. Maxine loved gardening, birds and animals.

In addition to her parents, Maxine was preceded in death by her husband, Emory Loose; two brothers, Ralph and Carroll Forret; and a sister, Dorothy Stout. She is survived by her daughter, Rachel (Edward) Flippo and her son, Jack (Jane) Loose both of Crystal Beach, Texas; her sister, Edna Knoll of Grimes; and grandchildren.

Visitation will be from 5 to 7 p.m. Thursday, January 6 at the Brandt Funeral Home in Dallas Center. Memorials may be made to the Lutheran Children's Home, P.O. Box 848, Waverly, IA 50677.
