Michael C. Bauer Obituary

Michael C. Bauer “Cowboy”, 60, died Wednesday, July 24, 2024 peacefully at Kavanagh House in Des Moines surrounded by family and a good friend. The family will receive friends from 6-8 pm Wednesday, August 7th with a Rosary beginning at 8 pm at Christ the King Catholic Church in Des Moines IA. Mass of Christian Burial will be held 10 am Thursday August 8th at Christ The King Catholic Church. Interment will be at Highland Memory Gardens Cemetery.

Michael was born in Des Moines to Roger, Sr. and Lora Lucille (Boeger) Bauer. He grew up in Berwick where he lived most of his life and graduated from Saydel High School.

Michael was the owner/operator of M. Bauer Transportation since 1998.
Michael lived life his own way on his own terms. Despise some struggles he endured in life he had a big heart and loved helping family, friends, and strangers. His nephews called him “Uncle Monkey”. Uncle Monkey was the best, there wasn’t anything that he wouldn’t do for them. He loved them all and enjoyed spending time with them every chance he had.

Survivors include his siblings: Roger Bauer, Jr., Donna M. Bauer and Lora A. (Terry Fox) Donahoe; nephews: Grant Bauer, Hank Bauer, Nicholas Donahoe, Kyle Donahoe and Kaleb Donahoe; great nephews: Declyn Donahoe, Dallyn Donahoe, and William Donahoe; aunt, Rosie Bauer; and many cousins.

Michael was preceded in death by his parents; siblings: Teresa Jo Bauer, Jeffrey J. Bauer; niece, Michaela Bauer.

He will be truly missed by all who knew him.
