Mollie Eva Sydnes, 85, went home to be with Jesus on Sunday, March 26, 2006 while briefly at Mercy Medical Center following a stroke. Funeral services will be 1 p.m. Monday, April 3, at Grandview Park Funeral Home. Interment will follow at Sunset Memorial Gardens.

Mollie Eva was born in Victor, Iowa and has lived in Des Moines since 1946. She was a retired hairdresser and homemaker. Her memberships included the Valley View Village Retirement Home Guild, Women for Constitutional Government, Polk County Association for Retarded Citizens, Woman’s Christian Temperance Union of Iowa, and the Cambridge High School Alumni Association. Mollie Eva enjoyed lunching with friends at the Norwoodville Community/ Senior Center, volunteering and singing. Her faith was a large part of her life. On the morning of her death, she sang a vocal solo selection at her church, the Cornerstone Pentecostal Church of God.

Immediate survivors include her sons, Daniel Sydnes of Winterset and Paul (Judith) Sydnes of Urbandale; her daughter, Priscilla (Wayne) Van Heuvelen of Urbandale; her brother, Lyle (Karen) Wheeler of Cambridge; her sister, Thelma (Arnold) Leland of Cambridge and her grandchildren, Matthew and Melissa Van Heuvelen. She was preceded in death by her husband, Stanley, in 1998.

The family will receive friends from 4 to 7 p.m. Sunday at Grandview Park Funeral Home. Memorial contributions may be made to her church.
