Ms. Sherry Bowers Obituary

Ms. Sherry Bowers, 59, Mitchellville, Iowa departed this life on July 11, 2022, at 4:30am at the EveryStep Kavanagh House, surrounded with family love.

Sherry was born to Ms. Evelyn Bowers on February 12, 1963, in Chicago, Illinois and grew up on the north side of Peoria, Illinois. She received her education in the Peoria Public Schools, where she found her love for sports and cooking.

Ms. Sherry Bowers gave birth to one son, Cortez Bowers in Peoria, Illinois. She later moved to St. Paul, Minnesota and raised Cortez. Sherry was a CNA for many years until her health declined and later had to move to Des Moines, Iowa with her son, Cortez, who cared for her.

Ms. Sherry Bowers leaves to cherish in her beautiful memory her son, Cortez Bowers of Mitchellville, Iowa; her two grandchildren, Tevin and Myla Bowers; her two sisters, Ms. Shirley Akplu in St. Paul, Minnesota and Mrs. Terri (Andre) Kelly in Austell, Georgia and one brother, Mr. Michael Bowers in Minneapolis, Minnesota. She also leaves her nephews, nieces, a host of cousins, and friends to share in her beautiful life memory.

Sherry was preceded in death by her mother, Ms. Evelyn Bowers and her two brothers, Mr. Stylon Bowers, Jr., and Charles Bowers.

A special Memorial will be held at 12:00p.m. (Noon) on August 20, 2022, at the Mitchellville City Park, 210 Jasper Avenue NE, Mitchellville, Iowa 50169. Online condolences are welcome at www.IlesCares.com.
