Nancy Hanson Obituary

Nancy Kay Hanson, 79, of Pleasant Hill, Iowa, passed away on Saturday, September 16, 2023 at Valley View Village in Des Moines, Iowa.

Nancy was born February 1, 1944, in Boone, Iowa, daughter of George William and Elizabeth Louise (Hegberg) Seiler. She grew up in Madrid, Iowa graduating from Madrid High School in 1962. On October 21, 1968, she was united in marriage with Robert Eugene Hanson in Madrid. Nancy and Robert initially made their home in Madrid but later resided in Jefferson, Iowa and Ames, Iowa before settling in Des Moines, Iowa. Nancy worked for the Des Moines Public School District in the school lunch program serving several different schools.

Nancy enjoyed painting ceramics, crocheting baby blankets, needle point, and cross stitching. She was an avid reader and enjoyed completing word puzzles. In her younger years she enjoyed bowling. And she could never pass up an old western television show.

She was preceded in death by her parent’s, husband Robert in 2009 and daughter, Kristine A. Hanson.

Nancy is survived by three children, Kent R. Hanson of Waukee; Kyle W. (Raian) Hanson of Pleasant Hill; and Karissa L. (Jay Jaquess) Hanson of St. Anthony, MN; granddaughters Lauryn and Hailey Hanson; grandson Jack Bertram; sister Mary Romans of Des Moines and brother Russell Seiler of Madrid.

Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. Thursday, September 21, 2023, at the Iles Grandview Park Chapel where visitation begins at 10 a.m. Burial will be held at the Cassel Cemetery in Madrid.
