Owen Gabriel Frisbie Geiken, 26 years old, passed away on Tuesday, January 11, 2022 in Des Moines, IA. A Celebration of Life will be held at 1 p.m. Saturday, January 15, at Iles Dunn’s Chapel, where the family will receive friends until 3 p.m. Saturday following the service. Owen was born in 1995, in Minneapolis, MN. He grew up in Des Moines, IA where he attended and graduated from Hoover High School in 2013.

Owen could be found working behind the bar at Eatery A, where he had been employed for several years. Owen was a compassionate, kind soul. He had a quick wit, a wicked sense of humor, and a way with words. He was loved by so many people. Owen was a gifted guitarist and singer/songwriter, he loved nothing more than to play with his friends and create music. Owen was a pretty good skateboarder, an amazing barista, an excellent cook, an animal lover and cat dad. He was passionate about social justice and change, and was involved in the process. He will leave a hole in the world.

Owen is survived by his parents, Megan Rezek (Anthony Rezek), and Garry Geiken (Heidi Berg), his siblings, Tori Rezek and Nick Rezek, grandparents Vicki Stark (David Johnson), grandmother Gladys Geiken, grandmother Cora Mae Berg, aunt Branwen Graham (Jason), and uncle Bill Geiken (Judy), aunt Laurie Wilson, as well as many cousins, extended family, work family, friend family, and anyone who was touched by him. He was preceded in death by his grandfathers, Donald Geiken, Michael Frisbie, and James Berg.

In lieu of flowers, the family asks that you please make a donation in Owen's name to any of the following organizations: NAMI, the National Alliance on Mental Illness or BLM Black Lives Matter.

Memorial services will be held on Saturday, January 15th at 1pm at Iles Dunn’s Chapel. Given the current state, the family requests that masks be worn.
