Patrick Crawford Obituary

Patrick Joseph Crawford died Saturday December 23rd, 2023, at his home in Beaverdale. Pat was born January 11, 1938, the son of Margaret (Conley) Crawford and Harold J. Crawford. He graduated from Dowling Catholic High School in the Class of 1956 and the University of Notre Dame in the class of 1960. He and Mary Figge were married on June 27, 1964, in Washington, DC.

Pat was commissioned as an officer in the Navy in 1960 leaving active duty in 1965 but continuing to serve in the Navy Reserve before retiring as lieutenant commander. Pat’s career included 30 years as a supply chain and procurement professional primarily in the healthcare field followed by entrepreneurial endeavors in the travel and real estate industries.

He was preceded in death by his parents, brothers and spouse of 54 years, Mary. Survivors include; son, Patrick II, daughter-in-law Elise (Kozak) Crawford, and their children, Sean, Aidan, and Katia of Wilmette, IL; son James, daughter-in-law Danielle Enriquez-Fowler, and their children, Caridad and Jameson of Kansas City, MO; as well as his sister Anne Lund of West Des Moines; Sisters-in-Law Sandra Crawford of West Des Moines, Kay Crawford of Clive and Peggy Andriano of Davenport.

Pat was an active member of the St. Augustin Parish serving as a lector and becoming a 4th degree in the Knights of Columbus. Pat served in various leaderships roles over the years for the Notre Dame Alumni Club of Des Moines and the Ancient Order of Hibernians while also dedicating a good amount of his time in support of priestly vocations and pro-life organizations. Pat loved spending times with his children and grandkids, liked to travel, and enjoyed antique automobiles.

Visitation will be held Tuesday, January 2, 2024, from 5-7 pm at ILES-Dunn’s Funeral Chapel with a Rosary at 7 pm. Funeral service will be held on Wednesday, January 3, 2024, at 10 am at St. Augustin Catholic Church, 545 42nd Street.

The family suggests that donations be made in memory to St. Jude’s Research Hospital or St. Augustin Catholic Church.
