Dr. Paul A. Polydoran, a pioneer in the placement and restoration of dental implants died May 6, 2007 of pancreatic cancer.

Widely recognized as the “dentist’s dentist”, Dr. Polydoran built his reputation on the quality and durability of his work over a period of more than four decades. A passionate love and dedication to dentistry inspired all students, field professionals and practicing dentists he mentored.

In 2001, Dr. Polydoran created the Iowa Dental Group with Dr. Robert Margeas. Together they founded the Center for Advanced Dental Education to provide continuing education classes in state of the art dental procedures.

As director of continuing education, Dr. Polydoran shared his experience and knowledge with dentists from the U.S. and abroad. With his partner, Dr. Robert Margeas, they co-developed a dental material that has gained worldwide usage, and acclaim from the dental industry.

Paul’s vision was instrumental in the planning, design, and function of the Iowa Dental Group. As a result, one of the nation’s leading dental journals, “Dental Economics”, featured the Iowa Dental Group with a cover story in 2004.

Dr. Polydoran was born June 26, 1933, to the late Sophia and Angelo Polydoran. He is survived by his wife, and best friend of 35 years, Anastasia (Stacy) Polydoran; a sister, Krenio (Kay) Polydoran Wright; brothers-in-law, Peter Karnas and George (Christine) Karnas; and his partner, Robert Margeas.

Dr. Polydoran is a North High School graduate, served in the U.S. Army, attended Drake University, and the University of Iowa, before earning his DDS degree from Loyola University College of Dentistry in Chicago, Illinois.
