Obituary

Paul Charles Feeney, 86, passed away peacefully on November 19, 2023, Des Moines, Iowa. Paul was born in Davenport, Iowa to William H. and Elsie (Hendrickx) Feeney. He graduated from St. Ambrose Academy, Davenport, class of 1955. He married Katherine McGee at St. Paul’s Catholic Church on October 11, 1958. Before settling in Des Moines in 1969, Paul served in the U.S. Army from 1959-1961 and the Army Reserves thereafter until 1966. Paul was stationed throughout the United States and in Germany.

He worked as a depot and logistic manager for several truck lines; starting with the Rock Island Motor Transit and ending with Lewis Freight. He adored and took great interest in the lives of his kids, grandchildren, and great grandchildren. On a nice summer day, you could find him tending to his beautiful lawn and gardens that he took pride in. Paul was passionate about the Hawkeyes and Dowling Catholic High School. Paul was a parishioner at St. Joseph Catholic Church for over 50 years, sending all the children to school there. He was active in the Knights of Columbus, the 5/0 Club and the Men’s Prayer Group throughout the years. Paul’s love of his life, Kay, passed last year while being married for 63 years.

Paul is survived by his children, Stephen (Barbara) Feeney, Daniel Feeney, Sharon Kirkpatrick (Dean), and Timothy (Jennifer) Feeney. He is also survived by his brother David (Carole) Feeney of Banning, California, and James (Deborah) Feeney of Greenlawn, New York. He was preceded in death by his brother, Patrick Feeney, and his beloved mother and father. He loved his many grandchildren, Jason (Jenna) and William (Mary Dahl) Feeney, Christian (Maggie) and Quilin Kirkpatrick, Claire and James Feeney, Kaitlyn Davis (Tony), and Emily Lohman. He was also blessed with great grandchildren, Evelyn, Ava, and Oliver Feeney, Gavin Kirkpatrick, and Arlo Davis.

Visitation will be held on November 25, 2023, at 1:00 p.m. at St. Joseph Catholic Church with a Mass of Christian Burial at 2:00 p.m. The burial will be at Berwick Cemetery immediately following Mass. In lieu of flowers, memorials can be made to the St. Joseph’s Christmas Meal.
