Obituary

Paul L. Minear, 88, passed away Tuesday, March 29, 2005 at Mercy Medical Center. The body has been cremated and memorial services will be held at 3 p.m. Friday, April 1 at Westover Funeral Home. The family will receive friends one hour prior to services Friday at the funeral home.

Paul was born in Unionville, MO, and grew up in Newton, where he graduated from high school and worked for the Newton Daily News. He moved to Des Moines in 1952 and worked as a printing pressman for Plain Talk Publishing Company, retiring in 1978.

Paul was a U.S. Army veteran of WWII and was awarded the Purple Heart and Silver Star. He was a member of College Avenue Christian Church and enjoyed golfing and bowling. He was also an avid sports fan, especially the Chicago Cubs and the Iowa Hawkeyes.

Paul is survived by his wife, Mardelle Minear of Des Moines; sons, Douglas (Barbara) Minear of Johnston and Dennis Minear of Des Moines; brother, Lee (Mary) Minear of Windsor Heights; sister, Betty (Elmer) Snook of Newton; two granddaughters; and one great-grandson.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Calvin and Cleavie Minear; two brothers, Glenn and John; and five sisters, Faye, Icle, Irene, Lucille and Gladys.

Memorial contributions may be made to College Avenue Christian Church or The American Lung Association.
