Ralph “Jim” White, 84, of Grayslake, IL, a former resident of Hamilton, AL, passed from this life on Sunday, October 8, 2006 at the Herrin Hospital. Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. on Friday, October 13, at Sundberg-Kirkpatrick Funeral Home, in Madrid, where the family will greet friends for one hour prior to the service time on Friday. Interment will follow at Polk City Cemetery, in Polk City.

Mr. White was born July 8, 1922 in Polk City, IA, the son of Ralph Earl White and Julia (Crum) White. He married the former Carol Irene (Nellis) White on March 25, 1952 and she preceded him in death on March 18, 2005.

He retired as a truck driver with the Dill Brothers Welding in Zion, IL and worked as a civil servant for 40 years. He was a World War II Navy veteran and retired from the Navy after 21 years. He was a member of the Evangelical Free Church, Polk City, IA, and recently attended the Evangelical Free Church, Libertyville, IL. He loved to fish, hunt and travel.

He is survived by his two sons, Lester White and his wife Leonda of Benton, IL and John White and his wife Sandra of Vandalia, IL; daughter, Katherine Eckles and her husband Ron of Grayslake, IL; seven grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; two sisters, Mildred Kramer and Doris Drummond both of Ankeny; and several nieces and nephews. In addition to his wife, Mr. White was preceded in death by his parents; two brothers, Lester and Bill White; and one sister, Helen Lee.
