Ray Hines Obituary

Ray Charles Hines passed away on Wednesday, May 21 2025 at his home on the South side of Des Moines.

Ray was born to Clarence Robert (Bob) Hines and Gladys L. (Peggy) McConkey Hines on May 28, 1955. He attended Lincoln High School, graduating in 1973.

Ray enjoyed spending time with his friends at the Eagles Lodge, was an avid golfer, liked to play guitar and enjoyed spending time with his granddaughters.

Ray worked for the Des Moines Water Works for over 30 years where he was beloved as a coworker and field foreman.

Ray is survived by his son Jeff Hines and his two granddaughters Ava Hines and Fern Hines. He was preceded in death by his father, Bob Hines, his mother, Peggy Hines, his older brother Everette Hines and his younger brother Jim Hines.

A Celebration of Life will be held from 1 - 4pm on Friday, June 6, 2025 at the Eagles Lodge located at 6567 Bloomfield Rod, Des Moines, IA 50320. Interment will be held at a later date to be determined.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to The Fraternal Order of Eagles in Ray's name.
