Raymond J. Sublet (Ray/Bus) passed away peacefully Monday May 14, 2007 at Hospice of Central Iowa, Kavanagh House on 56th street after a brave battle against multiple complications.

Ray is survived by his wife of 52 years, Rose-Marie, daughter Carolyn (Mark) Milligan of Wheaton, IL., and daughter Joni Baumbach of Des Moines, IA. Ray also leaves behind three grandchildren; Amy Milligan (Mike Swanberg), Dan (Lauren) Milligan, Ben Baumbach and Ray's great granddaughter, Iris Swanberg.

Ray was born in Mondamin, lA on Aug. 22nd, 1922. His parents were Albert Ray and Gladys Sublet and he has a brother Billy Gene. He began his life farming until he went into the Army and served in World War II. Upon his return he was a truck driver until his marriage to Rose-Marie when he moved to Des Moines and was employed by Ginsberg's Furniture until his retirement in 1986. In recent years, Ray has worked for the Iowa Lottery part-time, as he was always a hard worker and loved to keep busy.

Ray loved spending time with family and friends, watching NASCAR, was a lifetime member of the VFW, and loved puttering around in his garage.

In lieu of a visitation, the family will hold a memorial to welcome family and friends to celebrate his life in "Ray's Garage" at his home on Monday, June l8 at 11 am.

Memorial contributions may be made to Kavanagh House on 56th Street or Noah's Ark Animal Foundation in Fairfield, Iowa.

Iles Westover Funeral Home will be handling the cremation with burial at Glendale Cemetery, Des Moines at a later date.
