Rea Moss Obituary

Rea Bell Moss was born December 10th, 1924, in Dunkerton, IA. She was raised on a farm NE of Waterloo with her parents Roy and Doris Wheeler and her five siblings Alvin, Cletus, Gladys, Arlene, and Dory. They all preceded her in passing except Dory, who resides in California.
Memorial services will be at 2 pm on Tuesday, January 28th at Iles Dunn’s Chapel in Des Moines. Private burial will be in the Iowa Veterans Cemetery at a later date.

Rea left us on December 24th, 2024, to join her beloved husband of 70+ years, Roy, in heaven for Christmas this year. Rea and Clayton “Roy” Moss were married following Roy’s return home from his decorated service in North Africa with the U.S. Army. After purchasing a house in Saylorville, they made it a loving home with the blessings of three wonderful boys through the years. She is survived by her sons: Alan (Koren), Larry, and Neal (Kim); four grandchildren: Stephanie (Ushwin), Alex (Christine), Chelsea, and Matthew; and three great grandchildren: Imogen, Violet, and Daisy.

In addition to being a wonderful wife and mother, Rea found time to supplement the family budget. Her employment included being an editor for Plain Talk Publishing and a long tenure at the Saydel School District office. With the exception of her family, Rea’s greatest love was for Jesus Christ and her church family which included Forest Ave Baptist and First Baptist of Des Moines, Johnston, and Indianola. She wished any donations be made to the Mid-American Baptist Camping Ministry.
