Obituary

Des Moines - Richard Eugene Parks, SR passed away Wednesday night Feb. 12th surrounded by his family. Born in Ottumwa to Orris & Delorris Parks on March 30, 1934. Visitation will be Sunday, Feb. 16th from 3-5 pm with family present. Funeral service Monday Feb. 17th at 11 am. Both will be held at Grandview Park Iles Funeral home. He worked at Dico for several years.

Survivors include his wife Patsy of 60 years, children Cathy(Ron) Slack of Eddyville, Richard Jr (Joyce) & Mike(Pam) Parks of Ottumwa, Sherri(Mike) Rhoades of Ackworth, Peggy(Bob) Bush of Lincoln, NE, Kim(Tom) VanBlaricum & Tonya(Kenny Moyer) Parks of Des Moines.19 grandchildren, several great-grandchildren, and 1 great-great-grandson. Siblings: Joann(John) Liles of Floris, Maxine(Lane) Heckathorn of Bloomfield, Judy(Mike) Cox of Lampe, MO, Eva(Vic) Whitney of Colona, IL and David(Debbie) Parks of Kimberling City, MO. Sister-in-law Vileta Parks of Glenwood.

He was preceded in death by his parents, in-laws, brother Max, grandsons Gregory Slack and TJ VanBlaricum and great-grandson Thomas VanBlaricum.
He was a Chicago Cubs fan and was ecstatic when they won the World Series. He loved watching western movies especially John Wayne. He loved taking pictures and was always seen with a camera around his neck.

He leaves behind numerous photo albums for us to remember the "good old' days", something he enthusiastically loved to share and talk about.
