Richard Steven DuBay, 89, passed from this life on Thursday, February 22, 2007 at Regency Care Center in Norwalk. A funeral mass will be held at 11 a.m. on Wednesday, February 28, at St. Theresa’s Catholic Church in Des Moines, of which he was a member. Burial will follow at Resthaven Cemetery, in West Des Moines.

Richard was born on August 10, 1917, in Sioux Falls, SD to George William and Ada Vannetta Rehl DuBay. He was an army veteran of World War II, serving as a Sergeant until he was honorably discharged in 1946. Richard was united in marriage to Patricia Ann Fox on March 18, 1950, in Minneapolis, MN. To this union, five children were born. Richard and Patricia moved to the Des Moines area in 1957, and made their home in Windsor Heights. He was employed with R&C Office Supplies as Plant Manager for 27 years, until Richard retired in 1982. Richard was a member of the American Legion Urbandale Post 663 and Knights of Columbus. Richard was a loving, caring and devoted father, grandfather, brother and friend; he will be greatly missed by all who knew and loved him.

He is survived by his five children, Steven (Linda) DuBay of Puyallup, WA, Terry (Steve Rahn) DuBay Tucson, AZ, Jeffrey (Kris) DuBay and Mark (Lori) DuBay both of Urbandale and Renee (Patrick) Brightman of Des Moines; sister, Mary Bawden of Minneapolis, MN; and nine grandchildren, Nick, Alex, Diane, Lucas, Tyler, Ashley and Troy DuBay and Rose, and Sumir Brightman. Richard was preceded into eternal life by his parents; wife, Patricia DuBay in 2001; and three brothers.

Visitation will be held after 4:30 p.m. on Tuesday, February 27, at Iles Funeral Homes – Westover Chapel in Des Moines, where the family will greet friends from 6 to 8 p.m. and a Vigil Service will begin at 7:30 p.m.

Memorial contributions may be made to St. Theresa’s Catholic Church.
