Robert Comito Obituary

Robert F. Comito, 81, of West Des Moines died Wednesday, May 30, 2012 at Mercy Medical Center. Funeral services will be 10 a.m. Monday, June 4 at St. Ambrose Cathedral of which he was a faithful member. Burial will be at Glendale Cemetery.

Robert was born on September 12, 1930 in Des Moines to Frank and Rose (Greco) Comito. He was graduated from Dowling High School in 1948 and the Drake University School of Pharmacy in 1952. Following graduation, he purchased Fifield Pharmacy from which he retired in 1996. Robert was a 4th Degree member of the Knights of Columbus and a founding board member of Hospice of Central Iowa. He enjoyed bowling and pigeon racing. He was devoted to his church and praying the rosary. He will be remembered as a man who touched many lives.

Robert was preceded in death by his wife of 50 years, Roberta Ann in 1998 as well as his brother, Bill and sister-in-law, Jo Ann Comito. He is survived by three sons, Robert W., Perry (Dana) and Peter (Connie); daughter, Bonnie (Tony) Ligouri; nine grandchildren, Justin (Andrea), Nick, Galadriel, Alex, Isaac, Maria, Zach, Mike and Reagan; two great grandchildren, Rory and Rilee; and brother, Richard (Margaret) Comito.

Visitation will be from 2 p.m. to 5 p.m. Sunday, June 3 at Iles Funeral Homes-Dunn's Chapel where a vigil service will begin at 2 p.m. Sunday. Memorial contributions may be directed to St. Ambrose Cathedral or Hospice of Central Iowa.
