Robert H. Keiter, Sr. went home to be with the Lord on Sunday, September 16, 2007.

Funeral services will be held 11 am Friday, September 21, 2007 at First Federated Church with burial to follow at Glendale Cemetery.

Bob was born October 14, 1919 in Grundy Center, Iowa, the son of Frank and G. Fern (Bickley) Keiter. He graduated from Waterloo High School in 1936. Bob proudly served his country from July 28, 1943 to August 25, 1945 as an Air Force Pilot with the rank of First Lieutenant. He flew 57 missions during World War II over European, Balkan and Italian targets. Bob was an entrepreneur at heart and loved working with people through several businesses he owned. Later on he worked as an agent for Prudential Insurance for 25 years before retiring in 1978.

Bob was an active member of First Federated Church and served as a deacon for many years. He enjoyed gardening and was an avid traveler.

Bob is survived by his daughter, Patricia (Paul) Russell of Milwaukee, Wisconsin, his son, Robert, Jr. (Jean) Keiter of Des Moines, his daughter, Janice (Mike) Warren of Urbandale, his son, Frank (Tammy) Keiter of Des Moines, his son, James Keiter of Des Moines, and his daughter Mary (John) Host of Minneapolis, Minnesota. He is also survived by 11 grandchildren, 8 great grandchildren, his sister, Mavorette Butler of Woodland Hills, California and his brother, Charles Keiter of Ventura, California, and numerous nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his wife, Wava McCunniff Keiter.

The family will greet friends from 5 to 8 pm Thursday, September 20, 2007 at Iles Funeral Homes-Westover Chapel on Hickman Rd. Memorial contributions may be made to First Federated Church, The Alzheimer’s Association or the American Cancer Society.
