Robert K. "Bob" Howe Obituary

Robert Kent Howe, 77, passed away Monday, January 8, 2018, at Iowa Methodist Medical Center in Des Moines. Services will be held 10:30 a.m. Saturday, January 20, at Iles-Westover Chapel. Burial will follow at Brethren Cemetery near Dallas Center.

Bob was born May 30, 1940, in Dallas Center to Charles Edward and Alyce (Kent) Howe. He married Marilyn Dohner on May 27, 1960. Bob was a painter for several contractors before working at the Des Moines Public Schools, retiring in 2003. He was also an instructor for the painter apprenticeship program for over twenty years for Union Local #246, of which he was a lifetime member.

Bob is survived by his wife, Marilyn, his children, Kent (Jana) Howe of Decatur, IL, David (Rebecca) Howe of North Brunswick, NJ and Mindy (Drew Mueller) Blasberg of Des Moines; three brothers, Jim and Randy, both of Des Moines and Dennis (Wendy) of Tempe, AZ; six grandchildren, Jordan Howe, MacKenzie Witbracht, Olivia Howe, Sophie Howe, Mary Howe, and Lucas Howe; and four great-grandchildren, Kadyn and Tegan Halterman, Gabriella Howe, and Greyson Witbracht. He was preceded in death by his parents and his siblings, Hugh "Buddy" Howe, Darlene McMulin Howe and his infant brother, Kerry Howe.

The family will receive friends from 5 - 7 p.m. Friday, January 19, at Iles-Westover Chapel. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Hope Ministries, Central Iowa Shelter and Services or the Urbandale Food Pantry. Online condolences will be welcomed at IlesCares.com.
