The gentlest Irishman you could have ever met. Robert Joseph Henneberry, you probably knew him as "Bob" who passed away on November 29, 2013. He was surrounded by his wife of nearly 57 years, Marion; three daughters, Carol Henneberry-Zeidlhack, Joanne (Bill) Klasinski and Patricia Henneberry; three grandchildren, Michael Zeidlhack and Billy and Bobby Klasinski; Bob is also survived by two close siblings, his brother, Tom Henneberry; and sister, Jane Kaelin; and an extended family of relations and friends from every walk of life.

Visitation will be held from 5 to 7 p.m., on Thursday, December 5, 2013, at Iles Westover Chapel, located at 6337 Hickman Road in Des Moines, where a rosary service will begin at 7 p.m. A funeral mass will be celebrated at 10:30 a.m., on Friday, December 6, at St. Theresa Catholic Church, located at 1230 Merle Hay Road in Des Moines. Entombment will follow at Resthaven Garden Mausoleum, in West Des Moines.

He was born in LaSalle, IL on December 8, 1930. He served in the Korean War in Iceland. Bob was a successful manager with Metropolitan Life Insurance for 34 years winning numerous sales awards. He served on the national board of GAMA (General Agents and Managers Association) and the board of the National Managers Association. He loved the Insurance Business and helping his clients.

Bob was a proud graduate '53 of Saint Ambrose University in Davenport, Iowa. He was an active member of St. Theresa's Catholic Church. He was a lifelong member of the Knights of Columbus and CAMBIO Breakfast Club.

We were blessed to learn many valuable lessons from Bob during his 82 years (one week short of 83), among them: Always have tomato gardens. Always have a clean car. Feed the birds, scare off the rabbits and laugh at the squirrels. Say the rosary while you walk. Go to mass as many times a week as you can. If you are in Gulf Shores at the beach, play golf, tennis and swim all in one day.

Make sure your kids always know how lucky they are. Never let your kids give up, and never let your kids down. Give your daughters the same tools in life you would give your sons. Exercise everyday, even if it's a walk around the block.

In his lifetime, Bob was loyal, honest; caring with the highest of integrity had a great sense of humor, the best husband, Dad and grandfather ever; just a good, good guy. He was loved by all.

Above all, Bob loved his family. Family was the most important thing to him. The love of his life, his wife, Marion; his children and grandchildren whose photos surround "his chair" in the family room. He loved his nieces and nephews and holds a special place for his brother in-law, Bill Kaelin; sisters in- law's, Gail and Marge Henneberry; and Sister Michele Doyle OSF, friends and family too numerous to list but not forgotten. Bob is reunited with his mother, dad, brother and some very close friends.

The family would like to thank all the incredible nurses in the ER and intensive Care Unit at Mercy West Lakes Hospital. A special thank you to Gail and Katie (angels).

The family has respectfully requested that any memorial contributions be directed to either: St. Theresa Catholic Church, 1230 Merle Hay Road, Des Moines, Iowa 50311; or Divine Word College in care of Father Bernard Doyle SVD Scholarship Fund, 102 Jacoby Walkway, Epworth, Iowa 52045.
