"In one sense there is no death. The life of a soul on earth lasts beyond departure. You will always feel that life touching yours, that voice speaking to you. She lives on in your life and in the lives of all others that knew her." - Angelo Patri

Roberta Zwicky was born on July 10, 1926 and passed away peacefully, with her family by her side on March 11, 2015. She is survived by her son, Tim and his wife, April; grandson, Dane Zwicky; sister-in-law, Anna Mae Herdman; niece, Jean Anne Krieg; and nephews, Jeff and Dave Herdman.

She was a sparkle on this earth that can never be dulled. The fondest memory which all who knew her share was her smile that lit up the room, comforted, and cheered everyone she encountered. She earned a degree at Drake University, and chose a career well suited to her generous and caring nature, teaching developmentally challenged children.

She loved baseball, and regardless of which teams were playing, she was always cheering them on. She also had an adventurous side and loved to travel. She started with memorable family trips away from the frigid winters of Iowa to sunny Palm Springs during Christmas breaks. Eventually, as her son grew and left home, she left her roots to grow, and found her wings. She took scenic bus tours around the U.S. During one trip, she even made a friendship that would last a lifetime -over a conversation about their sons, two women found their boys went to the same college, and were even roommates!

Roberta will be greatly missed. However, the memories she left us with will be eternally treasured. We are thankful to have known her and to have loved her, but mostly, to have been loved by her.

Visitation will be held from 10 a.m. to 12 p.m. on Saturday, March 21, at the United Methodist Church in Woodward. Graveside services to follow at the Woodward cemetery. All who wish to attend are invited to a reception at the Hotel Pattee in Perry.

In lieu of flowers, the family asks that donations be made in Roberta's name to the Alzheimer's Association.

"A great soul serves everyone all the time. A great soul never dies. It brings us together again and again." - Maya Angelou
