Obituary

Roman B. Dahmus, 93, passed away on Wednesday, January 17, 2007 at Mercy Medical Center. A memorial gathering will be held from 4 to 7 pm on Tuesday, January 23, 2007 at Westover Funeral Home with a Vigil Service and Rosary at 6:30 pm. A Memorial Mass will be held at a later date in Waterloo with burial at Mt. Olivet Cemetery.

Roman was born October 11, 1913 in Knobel, Arkansas the son of Henry and Rosa Dahmus. He served in the U.S. Army and Reserves from 1947 to 1954. Roman was a supervisor at John Deere Tractor Works in Waterloo and retired in 1975. He was a member of the Knights of Columbus, Catholic Order of Foresters and St. Pius X Parish. Roman was an avid card player and golfer.

Roman is survived by his sons, Michael (Grace) Dahmus of Davis, CA and David (Susan) Dahmus of Rochester, MN; daughters, Ann (Larry) Ousterling of Whitefish Bay, WI, Mary (Rev. Matthew) Martens of Fort Dodge, IA and Rita (Richard) Peltz of Urbandale, Iowa; brother, Maurice Dahmus of Jerseyville, IL; sister, Rose (John) Trapp of Paris, IL; six grandchildren; three step grandchildren; one great grandson and six step great grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents; three brothers, Joseph, Rudolph and Monsignor Bede Dahmus; two sisters, Sister Mary Dunstan O.S.B. and Pauline Dahmus; and his wife Mildred Robert Dahmus married July 18, 1938.
