Ron Shreve Obituary

Harry Ronald Shreve (Ron) was born on October 26, 1936 to Buell William Shreve and Jessie Louise Gildea. He passed on September 7, 2023.

Ron graduated from Luther High School, Luther, Iowa in 1955. Also in 1955, he took a nine-month tech course at DeVry Technical Institute - Chicago, Illinois.

From 1956 to 1962 he did TV repair work, farmed, and was a machinist at Vigors Enterprises. Ron had a 30-year career as a TV Engineer at WOI-TV in Ames, Iowa.

Ron served in the United States Army Corps (Reserve) at Fort Leonard Wood, Missouri. Ron married his wife Cheryl on August 19, 1988 at the Little Brown Church.

Ron daily spent as much time as he could working in his garage building numerous items, maintaining lawn mowers, cars, trucks and working on his Model A. He enjoyed “the little things of life” such as nature, animals and especially children. He was very particular about the appearance of the property. He was an avid Iowa State University fan who enjoyed attending and watching men’s and women’s basketball, football and volleyball.

Family members include his brother, Bill Shreve; sister, Linda Pennington/Bill; daughter Diane Shearer/Don; son, Duane Shreve; granddaughter, Danielle Earp/Jake and great granddaughter Maxine Earp and wife, Cheryl.

Visitation/Service on Monday, September 18, 2023 from 10:00am - 12:00 Noon at the Iowa Arboretum & Gardens, 1875 Peach Avenue, Madrid, Iowa. In lieu of flowers, the family has respectfully requested that any memorial contributions may be made to the family, your charity of choice in his memory or to the Iowa Arboretum & Gardens.
