Obituary

Ronald Dean Boyer passed away peacefully at home on April 26, 2025 at the age of 93.
Ron was born on May 1, 1931 in Riley Township, Ringgold County, Iowa to Joseph Clinton Boyer and Genevieve Ida Neller. He was the youngest of seven boys.

Ron grew up in Ringgold County and graduated from Mt. Ayr High School in 1951. After graduation he moved to Des Moines and worked for Swift Company. He met his future wife, Barbara Ann Warne, on a blind date. Ron enlisted in the U.S. Army in March 1952. He served in Korea as U.S. Army corporal during the Korean War. He returned home in February 1954 and married Barbara, the love of his life, on April 23, 1954. They were blessed with three children, Stanley, Sharon, and Joseph. Ron worked all his life in the packing house industry, with his last role as an electrician with Oscar Mayer in Perry. He also enjoyed the life of a grain and livestock farmer.

Ron and Barb’s grandchildren were their pride and joy. From when the grandkids were young all the way through high school and college, they spent endless hours traveling all over Iowa and the Midwest to watch and cheer for them. The grandkids participated in soccer, football, basketball, wrestling, cross-country, track, cheerleading, marching band, color guard, jazz band, speech, school plays and musicals; Ron and Barb rarely missed an event.

Ron was preceded in death by his parents; his wife, Barbara; his son, Joseph; and his six brothers—Arthur, Clinton, True, Joseph Jr., Vernon, and Howard.

Ron is survived by his son, Stanley (Rozalyn) Boyer, Adel; daughter, Sharon (James) Brauckman, Dallas Center; seven grandchildren: Elizabeth (Terry) Welliver, Spreckels, CA; Jeremy Brauckman and Amanda Seals, Des Moines; Kristen Boyer, Wenatchee, WA; Jeffery (Kimberly) Brauckman, Dallas Center; Jacklyn (Nathan) Bong, Gilbert; Harrison Robbins-Boyer, Wardsville, MO; and Nathanael Boyer, Wardsville, MO; three great-grandchildren: Logan and Ryder Bong, and Kieran Welliver; and daughter-in-law, Debbie Moll-Boyer, Houston, TX.

A Memorial Fund has been established and can be directed to the family.

A Memorial Service will be held 11:00 a.m. on Friday, May 9, 2025 at the First Presbyterian Church in Grimes where visitation will begin at 10:00 a.m. Burial will in Sunny Hill Cemetery in Grimes.
