Obituary

Ronald H. "Willie" Wilson, 70, passed from this life on Thursday, December 6, 2012, at Mercy Hospice in Johnston. In agreement with Willie's wishes, cremation rites have been accorded. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 2:30 p.m. on Wednesday, December 12, at Holy Trinity Catholic Church in Des Moines. A private family committal service will take place at a later date.

Willie was born in a blizzard on December 30, 1941, in Monteith, Iowa, to Oscar Howard and Hazel Marie (Richards) Wilson. On June 29, 1963, Willie was united in marriage to Judith Leigh "Judy" Krueger in Ankeny, Iowa. He had formerly owned and operated Ron's Amoco in West Des Moines for many years. Prior to that and following his retirement, Willie was also employed with Krueger's BP Convenience Store also in West Des Moines. He was a member of Holy Trinity Catholic Church and the Izaak Walton League. Willie had a passion for fishing and hunting. He often took his nephews fishing in Canada. Willie will be greatly missed by all who knew and loved him; except the walleyes, who can all actually rest now.

He is survived and lovingly remembered by his wife of 49 years, Judy Wilson of Des Moines; son, Kevin (Jenny) Wilson of Urbandale; mother, Hazel Smith of Des Moines; three grandchildren, Heather (Ben) Yee and Alexander Wilson both of Des Moines and Maura Wilson of Newton; one great-grandson, Bennie; four siblings, Jerry (Mary) Wilson of Arkansas, Patty Caffrey and Larry (Sherry) Wilson both of Des Moines and Norman (Lynn) Wilson of Arizona; three siblings-in-law, Jim (Linda) Krueger, Don (Cathy) Krueger and Mary (John) Sheets all of Des Moines; many nieces and nephews; and many great-nieces and great-nephews. Willie was preceded into eternal life by his father, Oscar; one sister, Donna Coats; and one sister-in-law, Lynn Krueger on November 5, 2012.

The family will greet friends from 5 to 7 p.m. on Tuesday, December 11, at Iles Funeral Homes, Westover Chapel in Des Moines, where a scripture service will begin at 7 p.m.

Memorial contributions may be made to: The Ronald Wilson Memorial Fund.
