Obituary

Ruby Kint
Des Moines

Ruby Kint, 100, passed away on August 25, 2024 at Scottish Rite Park in Des Moines, Iowa. Visitation will be held from 9:30-10:30 a.m., on Thursday, August 29, 2024 with a service to follow. The service will begin at 10:30 a.m., at Iles Grandview Park Chapel, 3211 Hubbell Avenue, Des Moines, Iowa. Interment will be at Berwick Cemetery, rural Berwick, Iowa.

Cora Ruby was born on May 29, 1924 in Allerton, Iowa to Elmer and Myrtle (Fortune) Acheson. She graduated from Allerton High School, where she loved playing basketball and met the love of her life, Garold C. Kint. She and Garold were united in marriage in 1944. They made their home on the east side of Des Moines, where they raised their three daughters, Judy, Janie and Jolene. She was a homemaker while her daughters were in school and was involved with her church, PTA and attending her daughters activities. She then worked as a manager of the fabric department at Richman Gordman and later as a clerk for the Polk County Treasurer Office, Motor Vehicle Division.

Ruby enjoyed sewing, playing golf, gardening, reading, puzzles, and taking care of her family most of all. In retirement, Ruby and Garold enjoyed traveling with their camper for the winter to Arizona, Texas and Florida and enjoyed spending time with many friends along the way.

Ruby is survived by her daughters, Judith Frazier of Ames, Iowa, Mary Jane Samuels of Apple Valley, Minnesota and Jolene Radke of Ankeny, Iowa; grandchildren, Russ Frazier, Drew (Katie) Samuels, Amy Samuels, Jordyn (Kelly) Waddell and Kyle Radke; four great grandchildren, Emma Frazier, Ethan Frazier, MaKayla Samuels and Hunter Samuels; sister-in-law, Mary Lou Acheson as well as many nieces, nephews and their families. She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Garold; brother, Everett Acheson; sisters, Erma (Bob) McNeiley and Twyla (Don) Ewing; sons-in-law, Ron Frazier, Ron Samuels and Mark Radke and grandson, Allen Samuels.

The family would like to extend our sincere appreciation to the entire staff at Scottish Rite Park and Suncrest Hospice for the loving care they gave our mom.
