Ruby M. Frederick, 90, passed away Sunday, April 15, 2007 at Kavanagh House on 56th Street in Des Moines, Iowa. Funeral services will be held at 10:30 AM, Friday, April 20, 2007 at Immanuel United Methodist Church with burial following at Masonic Cemetery.

Ruby was born March 5, 1917 in Villisca, Iowa the daughter of Thomas A. and Nella M. Love. She spent her early years in Watson, MO and Pomona, KS. On March 10, 1933 she married Louis O. Frederick in Olathe, KS. She began their married life together in Ottawa, KS and moved to Des Moines in 1936 where they raised 3 children. She was a homemaker with many interests, such as growing and arranging flowers, reading, History, making quilts for her grandchildren and enjoying time with her family. But her favorite pastime was cooking and baking. She was best known for her delicious apple pies. Ruby was a world traveler having traveled with the Friendship Force and Methodist Heritage Tours to 16 different foreign countries, studying different religious cultures of the world. At one time, she played an active role in her local boy scout troop. She was a long time member of Immanuel United Methodist Church and was active in many church functions. She was a member of the Westover Study Group. Ruby enjoyed spending winters in St. George, Utah.

Ruby is survived by her loving husband, Louis of 74 years. She is also survived by two daughters, Marilyn (Ronald) Bunn of Des Moines and Jeanette Judd of Ames; one son, James L. (Jeanie) Frederick of Midway, Utah; nine grandchildren; seventeen great grandchildren and six great great grandchildren; and one sister, Glee Thomas of Rockport, MO. She was preceded in death by her parents, one sister, two brothers, one son-in-law and two great grandchildren.

A visitation will be held from 5 to 7 PM, Thursday, April 19th at Iles Funeral Homes-Westover Chapel. Memorial contributions may be given to Immanuel United Methodist Church or Calvin Community.
