Ruth E. Talenti passed away on Saturday August 5, 2006 at Mercy Hospice in Johnston.
Funeral Mass will be held at 10:00 A.M. on Tuesday August 8, 2006 at Holy Trinity Catholic Church in Des Moines With burial to follow in Glendale cemetery. Visitation will be held on Monday at Westover Funeral Home from 4-7 P.M. with a Vigil Service at 5:30 P.M.

Ruth Elizabeth Talenti, daughter of Charles and Mary (Ryan) Stillman was born June 14, 1922 in Emmetsburg, Iowa. She was a graduate of Emmetsburg High School in Palo Alto Co. She also taught School in rural palo alto county schools for 3 years. She attended the University of Northern Iowa receiving her B.A. degree in elementary education. She later attended Drake University for her Masters degree in education. Ruth taught school for a total of 42 years, the last 35 years being in the Des Moines Public Schools.

Ruth and her husband, Livio, enjoyed traveling and took many summer trips often going to Italy and visiting members of her husband’s family.

Ruth was a member of Holy Trinity Church in Des Moines and for several years helped as a pastoral care volunteer. She was a member of Bishop Drum Guild and was also an active member of the Des Moines Women’s Club, Des Moines Area Retired Teachers Association, Alpha Delta Kappa. She belonged to the Des Moines area Opera Guild, The Catholic Daughters, Catholic Women’s League and Tops.

Ruth was preceded in death by her husband, Livio, her parents, one sister, Laura Marcolini. Also two sisters-in-law, Maureen Stillman and Lois Stillman, two brothers-in-law Richard Hermanson and Paul Marcolini and nephew Paul Marcolini Jr.

She is survived by three brothers, Charles (Jeanne) Stillman, Philip (Ann) Stillman and Bill Stillman, sister Verona Stillman all from Emmetsburg, and sister Virginia Hermanson of Milford. Also many nieces and nephews.

Ruth was very vibrant and loving person. She enjoyed her family. Her nieces and nephews were very special to her and she was always there for every occasion for them, be it graduation, wedding or whatever the occasion.

She enjoyed doing crafts and sewing and brought many interesting and beautiful things to the craft sales for her church and Women’s Club. Ruth fought the good fight. She lived courageously with ovarian cancer one day at a time.

Memorial contributions may be made to Bishop Drumm or Holy Trinity Catholic Church or The Des Moines Women's Club.
