Ryan Nordeen Obituary

Thursday, November 17, 2022, Heaven gained an angel, Ryan James Nordeen, 38, passed away at home. The family will receive friends from 11:00 am - 12:30 pm Friday, December 2, 2022, at Grace Lutheran Church in Des Moines. Services will immediately follow at 12:30 PM.

Ryan was born March 26, 1984, in Des Moines, IA, to Larry and Janice (Rhead) Nordeen. He graduated from Urbandale High School, class of 2003. Ryan attended DMACC and received his associates degree in accounting.

He married Crystal (McLey) Nordeen on October 27, 2018 in Des Moines, Iowa. The two started their lives in Urbandale, later making their home in Des Moines.

Ryan worked as a Loan Service Specialist for Wells Fargo Mortgage.

Ryan loved pizza from Great Plains and Felix & Oscars but his all-time favorite was Grandma Hazel’s chocolate chip cookies and grandma Phyllis’ famous store-bought cookies. He enjoyed a variety of games, including Call of Duty, Diablo and table top games (TTRPG.) Ryan was an avid movie watcher especially, Horror movies. He enjoyed watching the movies with his cat, Pennywise. After playing high school football, he loved to watch the Dallas Cowboys and the Iowa State Cyclones. Ryan spent many summers at Lake Tainter in WI, with his family. He always enjoyed going boating and fishing.

Ryan is survived by his wife, Crystal Nordeen, parents, Larry and Janice, brother, Jacob Nordeen; brother-in-law, Doug McLey; uncles, Greg (Cheryl) Rhead, Duane (Linda) Nordeen; aunts, Karla (Joe) Burgart, Marilyn (Craig) Newton; mother-in-law, Nancy Bertrand; the second love of Ryan's life his foster child, AryAnna (Peanut) McDaniel; He was preceded in death by his grandparents, Don and Phyllis Rhead, aunt, Beverly Nordeen, cousins, DJ Nordeen, Jeremiah Newton.
