Sadie Ellen Handsaker, daughter of Stephen Riley Kesler and Barbara
Ellen Jamison Kesler, passed away March 29, 2005 at Spurgeon Manor in Dallas Center.

Funeral services will be held 9:30am Saturday at Dunkard Brethren Church in Dallas Center followed by burial at Brethren Cemetery.

Sadie was born in Quinter, Kansas on May 11, 1911. On November 12, 1939, she was united in marriage to Adam Russell Hoffeditz. They established their home on a farm near Bouton, Iowa. Sadie's loving hands were always busy helping others by sewing, cooking, canning and gardening. She will be long remembered by her quilts and embroidery work. She was never idle.

After enjoying many years of farm life, they retired in Perry, Iowa. In 1975 Russell died. She moved to Dallas Center, Iowa in 1977 to be near her family and church. Sadie was a charter member of the Quinter Dunkard Brethren Church.

In 1981 she married Ronald Handsaker. He passed away in 1987. Preceding her in death were her husbands, her parents and infant daughter, Kathleen, two brothers: Dennis and Walter, two sisters: Effie Morphew and Minnie Brooks. She is survived by one sister, Addie Royer, and many loving nieces and nephews.

The family will receive friends from 4 to 8 PM Friday at Iles Funeral Homes Brandt Chapel in Dallas Center. Memorial Contributions can be made to Gideon’s International or Dunkard Brethren Church.
