Samantha Roghair Obituary

Samantha Rae Roghair, 31, passed away unexpectedly on Friday, May 2, 2025. Funeral services will be held at 11 am on Saturday, May 10th at Valley Church in West Des Moines. The family will receive friends 1 hour prior to the service.

Her life was marked by many chapters and transitions, and she left a lasting impression on those who knew her along the way. Sam was known for her tough exterior, quick wit, and a memorable blend of sass and sweetness. Her sharp sense of humor could lighten even the hardest moments, and her love for animals was unwavering—one of the most consistent and genuine parts of her life. Along the way, Samantha received her GED from DMACC, an accomplishment she was very proud of.

While her path brought her into the lives of many people at different stages, Sam was remembered for her humor and her ability to connect in her own unique way. She will forever be loved and treasured by those who had the privilege of knowing her. Her legacy is one of love, laughter, and cherished memories that will forever reside in the hearts of those she leaves behind.

Survivors include her parents: mother, Alice (Donald) Dacken of Des Moines; father, Carl (Jamie) Lumley, Jr. of Des Moines; Dirk (Jill) Roghair of West Des Moines; siblings: Carl Lumley III of Des Moines, Ben Rice of Des Moines, Madilyn (Fields) Fouse of Des Moines, Mallory (Steven) Banks of Des Moines, Mason Roghair of Memphis, TN; grandparents: Juanita Rice of Des Moines, Roger and Margaret Roghair of Orange City, Harold and Rose Van Der Weide of Orange City; and her precious daughter. Samantha was preceded in death by her grandparents, Carl and Rebecca Lumley, Benny Allen Rice; aunt, Michele Lumley.

Memorial contributions may be made to the family for Samantha’s daughter, or to the Animal Rescue League.
