Life is Good, this is the message Sheryl Lynne Thompson wanted to leave behind.

Sheryl was born on April 24, 1963 in Nevada, Iowa. On September 1, 2010; after three years of fighting a courageous battle with breast cancer, she started her new journey with family and friends by her side. Cremation rites were accorded and private committal services will take place at a later date.

Sheryl attended Hoyt Middle School and East High School. On November 14, 1981, she married Mike Hinrichs and they divorced in 2002. She was formerly employed with Adventureland Park during high school, multiple Hy-Vee store locations for 27 years, and Wells Fargo Home Mortgage for three years.

As a resident of the Des Moines area her entire life she most enjoyed spending time with family and friends. Sheryl will be remembered for her kind and loving spirit, beautiful smile, quick wit and chic style. She was truly grateful for the friendship and support from her many close friends including Missy Bauer, Dr. Matt Hill and her Lutheran Church of Hope Alpha Group.

In place of a traditional service, Sheryl requested her family and friends gather and celebrate life with her on August 27, 2010. We prayed for Sheryl's peace and comfort and as she wanted we shared memories, laughs, tears and good food. One hundred pink balloons were released in her honor.

She will always be loved by her mother and step father, Jeanette and Glen Borders; brother, Randy (Vickie) Thompson; nephew, Tim (Pam) Thompson; niece, Amy (Ed) Thielking; two step brothers and two step sisters with a special thanks to Yvonne (George) Mikel; two great nephews and one great niece, Ben and Cami Thompson and Cohen Thielking; and a host of many loving aunts, uncles, cousins and friends. She will always be remembered by her loving companion, Tom Hofer and her cocker spaniel, "Bailey". Sheryl was preceded in death by her father, Marvin C. Thompson.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to either the Susan G. Komen Foundation or Mercy Hospice in Johnston.

As a loving friend of Sheryl, please continue to pledge her life message of Life is Good.
