Shirley A. Taylor, 70, passed away peacefully on July 3rd, 2010. A celebration service will be held at Oakwood United Methodist Church on Friday, July 9th at 11:00 am.

Shirley was born on September 24, 1939 in Estherville, Iowa to Alan and Rachel Morris. Shirley moved to Des Moines and married Dale Taylor in October of 1958. She worked at Wallace Homesteader, Saydel Schools, the Ankeny Golf and Country Club and was a secretary for Staves Memorial Church. Shirley retired after 21 years from the State of Iowa on March 4th of this year. Shirley was an active member of Oakwood United Methodist Church and Sisters in Stitches quilt guild. Shirley loved to quilt, travel, decorate cakes and enjoyed spending time with her granddaughter Caiti, family and friends.

Shirley will be greatly missed by her children, Chellē (Steve) Williams of Altoona and granddaughter, Caiti and Kim (Tony) Yockstick and granddaughter Whitney and three great-grandchildren.

Memorial contributions may be made to Oakwood United Methodist Church in Pleasant Hill, Iowa.

Shirley had an outstanding faith in God. She was a devoted and loving mother, grandmother, friend and co-worker. Her beautiful smile, positive attitude and inspiring testimony of faith will be greatly missed by all.
