Sidney Hudson Obituary

Sidney Michale Hudson, 40, passed away on October 5, 2025, in Johnston, Iowa. A celebration of life gathering will be from 11:00 a.m. - 1:00 p.m. on Friday, October 17, 2025, at The Little Book of Des Moines, located at 520 Euclid Avenue Suite 103 in Des Moines.

Sidney was born in Upstate New York to Jeff Hudson and Kathy Miller. He moved to Iowa as a teenager, graduating from Norwalk High School before attending DMACC to pursue his passion for automotive work. His love for cars started early, and he began working on them at just 14 years old. Over the years, Sidney built a strong reputation as a brilliant and reliable auto technician, working at several dealerships throughout the Des Moines area. He had an incredible gift for understanding how things worked and could bring just about any engine back to life.

Beyond his technical talent, Sidney will be remembered most for his generous spirit, quick wit, and deep love for his family. He was a proud and devoted husband and father who made time for every moment, whether it was taking Lainey to school in funny hats just to get a laugh, fishing with Jack, or working out with Chloe. He loved to cook, especially experimenting with new recipes or spending the day smoking meat to share with others.

His loyal dog, Karma, whom he rescued and cared for like family, was his constant companion. Sidney had a heart as big as his sense of humor—sarcastic, playful, and always full of life.

Sidney is survived his wife, Erica Hudson; children: Chloe Hudson, Jackson Hudson, and Lainey Kehrberg; mother, Kathi Miller; brothers, Erin Hudson and Brian Hudson; sister, Jodi Hudson; grandfather, Lacey Roberts; and many nieces, nephews, cousins, and loving family and friends.

He was preceded by his sisters, Tiffany and Amanda Jane; and his grandparents: Orval Miller and Isabell Miller, and Jane Roberts.
