Tad Costello Obituary

Tad Andrew Costello, 55, of Des Moines, passed away Wednesday, January 25, 2023. Born to Patricia Costello Kerr and Robert Costello on June 15, 1967. Tad graduated from East High School in 1985. Tad spent the next 37 years doing what he loved as an auto technician. Tad was the owner of Eastown Tire and Auto Care and also owned a professional lawn care service. Both businesses had many loyal customers, several of whom became his close friends throughout the years.

Outside of work, Tad participated in many athletic endeavors, including cycling, rock climbing, golf, and kayaking. He was a well-known member of the local cycling community. His cheerful, spirited, and profoundly heart-warming personality won him many lifelong friends. He excelled at mountain biking and was considered one of the most talented local cyclists when, at a young age, he was a competitive BMX racer. In addition to being an accomplished athlete, he also loved cheering, watching, and supporting others in competitions. He had a great passion and dedication to hockey - and he always cheered for the Yankees and Bears.

Trust, loyalty, and honesty are the most common words used by friends, family, and customers to describe Tad. He was undoubtedly one of the finest people you could ever be fortunate enough to know. He was incredibly committed to his family and friends - and they adored him immensely. Tad will be deeply missed and loved forever. Ride easy, Rad Tad.

Tad is survived by his mother Patricia Costello Kerr; loving partner, Loren Uscilowski; the mother of his four children, Tami Costello; children: Chad (Ashley) Costello, Jordan Costello, Shelby Costello, Mackenzie Costello; grandchildren: Cayne, Camden, Avery, and Adelyn; mother sister, Roxanne (Kevin) Wood; stepbrother, Ray "Buck" Kerr, and Paula (Keith) Howard. Lastly, Tad and Loren’s beloved dog “Pedro”. Preceded in death by stepfather Ray Kerr and nephew Justin Wood.

Funeral services will be held at Lutheran Church of Hope in West Des Moines on February 1, 2023, at 11:00 am. A visitation will precede the service, and a luncheon will follow. Please veiw the funeral service virtually using this link: http://hopeonline.tv/specialevents
