Obituary

Tammy Lathrop, 75, of Chariton, Iowa, formerly of Des Moines, Iowa, passed away August 2, 2024 at the Lucas County Hospital in Chariton. Visitation will be held from 6-8pm, Monday, August 5, 2024 at Iles Grandview Park Chapel, 3211 Hubbell Avenue, Des Moines. Funeral services will be held at 1pm, Tuesday, August 6, 2024 at Iles Grandview Park Chapel. Interment will be at the Elkhart Cemetery, Elkhart, Iowa.

Tamar Jean Lathrop was born on May 4, 1949 in Des Moines to Don and Betty Jean (Johns) Wilson. She lived in several places including Jamestown, Colorado from 1968-1969. On September 23, 1969, she was united in marriage to Eddie Dean Lathrop and they made their home in Des Moines where they raised their two sons, Eddie, Jr. and Jeremy. In 2022, Eddie built their retirement home in Chariton.

Tammy worked at Appletree Childcare Center, West Des Moines, Iowa for 24 years.

Tammy loved children and enjoyed crocheting, other hand work, murder mysteries and collecting dolls.

Tammy is survived by her husband, Eddie; sons, Eddie (Connie) Lathrop, Jr. and Jeremy (Chavonne) Lathrop; five grandchildren, Lainey, Calvin, Gary, Ian and Baylee; four great grandchildren; brothers, Gerald Wilson of Germany and Theron Wilson, Brian (Kathy) Wilson and Steven Wilson all of Pueblo, Colorado and numerous nieces, nephews and their families. She was preceded in death by her parents; and three brothers, William, Jack and Terry Wilson.
