Timothy Crees Obituary

Timothy Christopher Crees, age 27, of Pleasant Hill, Iowa, passed away at his home on Monday August 25th, 2025. He was born on July 5, 1998, in Des Moines, Iowa.

Timothy was proud of his engagement to the love of his life Sarah McGinnis and was excited to celebrate their marriage in October. Together the couple made plans to travel, start a business and build a home on the family land. Timothy began his career as a welder in 2022 with Quality Manufacturing where he excelled in his work and grew in his trade. In 2023 he became a robotic welder with Vermeer Corporation in Des Moines, where he was quickly recognized for his skill and trained in Plasma Welding. Timothy was motivated by his success and made plans to further his career and education. Outside of work, he was passionate about family, good times, and nature. He enjoyed hunting and fishing with his family.

Timothy was known for his sense of humor, his quick wit, his unforgettable laugh, and his hugs. He turned every gathering into a party, and kept those around him laughing, usually at the most inappropriate times. He loved his family and friends, and being surrounded by them was his idea of a good time. Timothy had a gift for friendship and created lasting memories with everyone who knew him, he was always quick to let everyone know how special they were to him.

He is survived and lovingly remembered by his fiancée, Sarah McGinnis; his mother, Molly McDonel; and his father, Sean Crees. Tim will be forever missed by his immediate family, siblings Tylar and Tayden VanPelt, Morgan, Ashley, Mason and Natalie Crees; Melissa and Curt Nelson, Edward VanPelt, Clint Nelson, Tanner Nelson, Mariah and Bill Burkett, Forrest, Frances, Freddy, and Franklin Burkett; grandparents, Peggy and David Reed, Mac McDonel; and countless family and friends.

A visitation and memorial service will be held on Friday September 5th at Iles Grandview Park Funeral Home, 3211 Hubble Ave, Des Moines, IA 50317. Visitation from 6pm-8pm followed by a memorial service beginning at 8pm. The family would like to invite friends and family to share stories and memories of Tim at this time.

Timothy’s memory will forever live on in the hearts of his fiancée, family, and friends. His love, laughter, and spirit will never be forgotten.
