Timothy J. Walker, 70, passed away on June 8, 2011.

Tim was born in Milwaukee, Wisconsin and lived in Wauwatosa, Wisconsin until his college graduation. He attended Marquette University for two years, before transferring to Drake University to complete his undergraduate degree. Tim continued his education at Drake and graduated from Drake University Law School in 1965. During college, Tim played football at Marquette University and Drake University.

Tim served as a trial lawyer for Whitfield & Eddy Law Firm in Des Moines from 1965 through 2000. Tim was a member of the Iowa Academy of Trial Lawyers, Iowa Defense Counsel Association, Defense Research Institute, Inc. (Chairperson, Life and Health Insurance Committee 1988-91 and Regional Representative); Federation of Insurance and Corporate Counsel (Chairperson, Life and Disability Insurance Committee, 1985-87, 1992-94; Vice-President, 1988-90 and Board of Directors 1990-95).

Tim is survived by his wife, Nancy Brinkman of Des Moines; daughters, Kristyn (Andrew) Mullin and Lisa (Jason) Rudolph of Wayzata, MN; grandchildren, Walker Mullin, Paige Mullin, and Alex Rudolph; step-daughters, Sondra (Eric Johnson) Schol of St. Louis, MO and Wendy Bower of Ankeny, IA; and step-grandchildren, Gage Bower and Shelby Bower; sisters, Patricia (Robert) Horn, Edmund, OK and Margaret (John) Kading of Appleton, WI; and many nieces, nephews and cousins.

Tim was preceded in death by his father, John Walker; mother, Celeste Walker Wells; and step-father, Helmus W. Wells.

Tim enjoyed playing golf and passionately volunteered for several years at Capitol View Elementary, McKinley Elementary and Carver Community School.

A memorial service will be held at 1:30 pm, Monday, June 13, 2011 at Plymouth Congregational United Church of Christ followed by refreshments. Memorial contributions may be made to the American Heart Association, American Diabetes Association, American Cancer Society and to the family to be used towards a fund to benefit Des Moines Public Elementary School Reading Programs.
