Obituary

Tommy D. Warren, 70, died Saturday, May 2, 2009 at home in Pleasant Hill of complications of diabetes. Visitation will be from 5 to 7 p.m. Tuesday at Iles Funeral Homes-Grandview Park Chapel. Funeral services will be 11 a.m. Wednesday at the funeral home. Burial will be at Oakwood Cemetery in Pleasant Hill.

Tom was born in Des Moines and lived in Pleasant Hill for many years. From 1955-1959 he served in the U.S. Air Force as an aircraft mechanic, flying air rescue missions in North Africa. He worked as a Superintendent at Armstrong/Pirelli/Titan Tires retiring in 1995. He was a volunteer fireman and president for the Pleasant Hill Fire Department.

Tom's enjoyment of the outdoors began during his boyhood at Woman Lake and Leach Lake in Minnesota and continued through the family vacations to Western states as well as hunting and fishing. He loved traveling with his wife, Jan, spending time with his family and especially cherishing his grandchildren.

Tom is survived by his wife, Janice of Pleasant Hill; son, Chris (Serena) of Pleasant Hill; daughter, Carole (Phillip) Boehnke of Ventura, IA; son, Craig of Des Moines; sister, Helen Beatty of Dubuque; five grandchildren; one great granddaughter and other family members including Jerry Brown. He was preceded in death by his parents, Tom and Stella (Graham) Warren; two brothers, Charles and Harvey; and sister, Ilene Brown.
