Obituary

Violet J. Means, 84, passed away Tuesday, March 24, 2009 at Kavanagh House on 56th Street in Des Moines, Iowa.

Funeral services will be held 10:30 a.m., Friday, March 27, at West Des Moines United Methodist Church with burial following at Resthaven Cemetery in West Des Moines.

Violet Jean Means was born July 10, 1924 in Afton, Iowa, the daughter of Clarence and Persus (Henderson) Zuber. She grew up there and was a graduate of Afton High School. Vi married Max L. Means on October 24, 1952 in Afton.

She had worked as a librarian for the Des Moines Public Schools. Vi was a member of West Des Moines United Methodist Church. She was a very active church member.

Vi was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Max; sister, Ruby Moffitt and brother, Bob Zuber. She is survived by her daughter, Becky (Kevin) Daniels; granddaughters, Kimberly (Jason) Bowles and Megan Daniels and great grandson, Matthew Bowles.

Visitation will be from 4 to 7 p.m., Thursday, March 26, at Iles Funeral Homes - Westover Chapel.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Violet Means Memorial Fund.
