Obituary

Walter Havlik passed away November 1, 2014, at Methodist Hospital from a traumatic head injury suffered in an auto accident October 25th. He was born June 22, 1931 to Elenora and Tony Havlik and served in the Army from 1953 to 1955. Walt spent his career working for the USDA Meat and Poultry Inspection Department.

Walter had an interest in antique cars, was a fun story teller, and always wanted to help friends and family with projects from home maintenance to auto repair.

He is survived by his loving wife of 57 years, Beverly; his children Steven (Pam) of Robbinsdale MN, Gordon of Ankeny, Robert (Annette) of Osceola, Leanne (Scott) Stueck of Elkhart, six grandchildren; Michael (Cassie), Kristin, Terence, Matthew, Brian, and Jared; two great grandchildren, Chase and Morgan; and his sisters, Elsie McElmeel, Helen Schmidt, JoAnn Snodgrass and Kathy Hanson. He was preceded in death by his parents and brother Joe Havlik.

Visitation is 5-7 PM Wednesday, November 5th at St. Boniface Catholic Church in Waukee where a vigil service will be held at 7 p.m. Funeral services will be held Thursday, November 6, at 11 AM at St. Boniface Catholic Church in Waukee followed by burial at the Iowa Veterans Cemetery near Van Meter. Memorial contributions may be made to St. Boniface Catholic Church or Crohn's & Colitis Foundation of America. Online condolences will be welcomed at IlesCares.com.
