Warren R. "Jack" Bedford was born in What Cheer, Iowa on December 31, 1917 to Roy H. and Lillian Pearl (Warren) Bedford. Roy was the city postmaster and Jack's mother, Pearl died when he was only 11. Jack had an older sister, Margaret, and eventually a stepmother, Helen (Clark) Bedford.

Jack attended Iowa State University and The York School of Engineering. He met the love of his life, Colleen Hull, at a dance in New Sharon in 1938. They married in 1940 and continued their dance of love for nearly 75 years.

Jack served proudly and honorably in the United States Marine Corps during WWII and Korea. He was the owner of two heating and air conditioning businesses until he retired at age 75. He delighted in his family, was in love daily with his wife, and was totally devoted to his Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ. He was a faithful member of CrossTrainers.

Jack is survived by his wife Colleen; son Barry (Roxie); daughter Barbie (Gary) Rosberg; Grand-children: Kirsten (Bill) Novak; Justin (Katie) Bedford; Sarah Rosberg; Melissa (Cooper) White; (Nichole & Jake Carroll); and great grandchildren: Mason, Kaden, Kia, Mylee, LillyAnne; Hayden, Samuel, Alyssa, Gabrielle, Grace, Ashley, Luke, Adalyn, William, Isaiah, Josephine, Jack, and niece Nancy (George) Hettenhouse. He was proceeded in death by his father, mother, sister, step mother, and grandson Nathan Warren Bedford.

Memorial services will be held 10:00 am Wednesday April 22, 2015 at The First United Methodist Church in Des Moines. The family will greet friends from 9-10 prior to the service.
