Wayne A. Rowe, 91, died Wednesday, August 24, 2005 at his home. Graveside services will be 11 a.m. Monday, August 29 at Highland Memory Gardens Cemetery in Des Moines. A memorial luncheon will be held following services Monday at Emmanuel United Methodist Church in Granger, Iowa.

Wayne was born in Russell, Iowa and raised in Ottumwa, Iowa. He moved to West Des Moines in 1952. For the past four years, he had lived in Granger. He was a former Ottumwa police officer and retired at age 65.

Wayne will be remembered for his humor and quick wit. He was known by all who knew and loved him as "BAPA". He was a loving and devoted husband, dad and grandpa. Wayne enjoyed his family, carpentry, word puzzles and working in his yard. He will be greatly missed in our hearts forever.

Wayne is survived by his wife of 69 years, Melba; his daughter, Linda Geneser of Granger and her husband, Frank and his families; his granddaughter, Angie Johnson and her husband, Rob and his families; and his great grandson, Jack Johnson.

Visitation will begin after 3 p.m. Sunday at the Brandt Funeral Home in Dallas Center, where the family will receive friends from 5 to 7 p.m. Memorial contributions may be directed to the Wayne A. Rowe Memorial Fund.
